About The Project
One of our clients in Gladstone Street, Bedford, wanted us to install a new dormer loft conversion, they wanted a bedroom and an en-suite, to the highest of standards.
What We Did
Week 1
Day 1: On the first day in week one, we had scaffolding installed against our client’s mid-terraced property. Our team then took delivery of all the required materials and cleared the loft space.
Day 2: Our team began to install all of the structural steel and a new supporting floor, to make help with future work.
Day 3: The newly measured staircase was trimmed out in the floor area and the head steel was installed for the dormer.
Day 4: The new flat roof for the dormer was constructed to the rear of the property and all the existing redundant rafters were removed, opening the newly formed loft space.
Day 5: The electrics and plumbing installation was carried out, with all the insulation and plasterboard loaded up into the loft, ready for the following week.
Week 2
Day 6: The new loft structure was fully insulated and was passed by the local building control.
Day 7: We started to plaster boarding and erect the bedroom and en-suite walls.
Day 8: The new bespoke staircase was installed, we finished all the plaster boarding, ready for the plaster.
Day 9: Our plasterer started to work on the property whilst we began finishing off the exterior of the loft.
Day 10: While the plasterer was finishing the outstanding work, we installed brand new UPVC windows, fascias and guttering.
Week 3
Day 11: The final week of the project, the second fix of the electrics was completed, including the LD2 smoke alarm system. The tiler started to tile the shower cubicle and splash back above the sink
Day 12: We began installing all the skirting boards, architraves along with the new doors.
Day 13: The scaffolding was taken down from the property, along with this we cleared the garden and the gutters, to leave the client to enjoy their garden once more.
In the final days, the building control inspector passed off all the work, with the client being issued a completion certificate for the loft conversion.
