In this project, our team took on a sizeable VELUX® conversion in a relatively new Bedfordshire housing estate. Having seen some of our previous loft conversions in Bedford online, these clients felt confident trusting DJ Moore Lofts with their renovation. They had plans to add a new guest bedroom, office and bathroom to their property, and as always, we were happy to help.

What We Did

Keen to protect the exterior image of their property, our clients opted for a VELUX® conversion despite its low truss roof. Thanks to our team’s extensive experience, we were able to implement smart design solutions, so the low roof wasn’t an issue. For example, we relocated a doorway on the first-floor landing to create extra space, allowing the stairs to extend over the existing stairwell. At the top of the staircase is a large VELUX® SK06 roof window equipped with a switch-controlled solar blind, filling the stairwell with natural light.

In the guest bedroom, there are two more SK06 VELUX® windows to create an open and airy feel. The room also benefits from a floor-mounted air conditioning unit for added comfort. Opposite the guest bedroom, we’ve installed a small office/games room with another VELUX® window so our client could get maximum use out of their newly converted loft.

Finally, the bathroom is fitted with a large shower, a VELUX® roof window, ripple effect tiles, and a matte black finish for an interior that exudes class. We’ve even added black tile trims to highlight the recessed soap box within the shower. Additionally, our clients opted for a bi-folding door to maximise the bathroom’s available space.
